Job Summary:

Responsible for leadership, training and Technical troubleshooting of division level operations related activities including: NEC, IEEE, and industry electrical standards.  This position is also responsible for assisting with DOT, Environmental, Processing and SCADA data.

Responsibilities are varied and complex.  Expert in the Technical aspects for all PLC and Electrical Controls at company assets spanning two or more districts.  Plans and prioritizes work and works under little to no supervision.  Provides guidance and training to less experienced employees within functional area.  Resolve complex problems within area of responsibility.  Understands and applies advanced principles of area of specialization.  Recommends changes in procedures and Technical Bulletins.  Anticipates problems and issues; looks beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications.  Review progress and evaluates results.  Act in a liaison capacity with other business units and 3rd parties such as E&C, Commercial, Operations,  landowners, contractors, government agencies and customers.  May coordinate the work of technicians and third-party contractors.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist and advise operations personnel in identifying and implementing new methods, new procedures, new test equipment, and new equipment to increase operating efficiencies. Support and provide feedback to engineers on the refinement of operational procedures and/or equipment specifications
  • Provide detailed analysis and reports on equipment performance and condition.  Provide recommendations to local O&M Leaders or Managers of O&M regarding required, advanced maintenance processes, overhauls or replacement of equipment. 
  • Provide recommendations to improve preventative and predictive maintenance plans for assigned assets.
  • Coordinate and lead special project work including the installation and commissioning of equipment, machine modifications and equipment improvements.  May coordinate the work of third-party contractors for special project work as assigned.
  • Ensure the effective and timely communication of equipment condition and status of special projects cost/schedule to supervisor, technicians, engineers and other related parties.
  • Facilitate implementation and consistent application of new and/or existing programs, new equipment, standards or process initiatives.
  • Develop and lead training programs for area of specialization.
  • Assist and support internal/external audits as assigned.
  • Write and review technical documents.  Develop and set up company communications for distribution across all Enable business units.
  • Contribute to equipment failure investigations of limited scope and complexity.
  • Develop testing procedures and test forms to be used for process instruments and various safety systems to be used for PM and/or compliance.
  • Routinely makes technical decisions concerning the maintenance and repair of critical electrical systems such as motors, cables, switch gear and Motor Control Centers that deviates from standard processes
  • Provide second (2nd) tier technical assistance/troubleshooting of new and existing assets as directed by supervisor.
  • Analyze data Perform complex maintenance, configuration and calibration of process and safety instrumentation utilized in the gathering, processing, transmission and storage of hydrocarbons.
  • Schedules and coordinates daily activities with peer operations personnel and is able to negotiate scheduling conflicts.
  • Provide detailed troubleshooting and programming modifications for programmable logic control and HMI systems.
  • Perform required testing of various process instruments and safety systems such as ESD, fire detection and gas detection systems. Complete and publish calibration and testing reports for documentation purposes.
  • Serve as a technical resource to operations personnel and less experienced technicians.
  • Provide complex AC/DC electrical system maintenance and troubleshooting for voltages up to 7200V.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at various vendor locations for control system panels utilized at Compressor stations, etc.
  • Support and provide feedback to company subject matter experts on the refinement of operational procedures and/or equipment specifications.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates degree in controls, electrical, computer technology or other technical discipline.  Three (3) years directly related experience will be considered in lieu of an associate’s degree.
  • Six (6) years’ experience in the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various Control and Process equipment including PLC's, Communications interface equipment, switches, relays, pnuematics, etc., and Compressor Station equipment.


Preferred Skills:

  • Associates degree in controls, electrical, computer technology or other technical discipline. 


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel crouch, balance, climb crawl, reach, stand, walk pull, lift, use fingers and grasp on a daily basis.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, view a computer terminal, demonstrate manual dexterity for operating a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly - in an oral or written manner.
  • Ability to work with high exposure to excessive noise, dust, dirt, grease, temperature extremes and safety hazards.
  • Ability to work in an office environment and/or field site environment
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted.
  • Ability to travel as required to perform job responsibilities
  • Ability to move about unrestricted and follow safety and emergency response procedures and regulations.


Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work outside with some exposure to all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work successfully in an office and field environment with moderate daily pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work overtime (scheduled and/or unscheduled, nights and/or weekends) occasionally, as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to work or field locations, and to attend meetings, training and conferences/seminars, including overnight stays to complete job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with high daily pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced field operations environment with pressures to repair, troubleshoot and bring equipment back online for the company and for our customers.
