Position Summary

Provides leadership and technical support to compression operations personnel on integral and separable compressor issues that are varied and complex.  Expert in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, and troubleshooting of compressors, engines, turbines, motors, and auxiliary equipment.  Ensures the cost effective and efficient performance of all engines, compressors, and associated equipment at compressor stations, pipelines, and process plants. Responsibilities are varied and complex.  Expert in the maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and internal/external audits for a variety of highly complex assets spanning two or more districts.  Plans and prioritizes work and performs multiple tasks under little to no supervision.  Provides mentorship, guidance. and training to less experienced employees within functional area.  Resolve complex problems within area of responsibility.  Understands and applies advanced principles of area of specialization.  Recommends changes in procedures.  Anticipates patterns and links; looks beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications.  Review, consult on and develop organization-wide technical programs or processes.  Prioritize multiple programmatic changes.  Lead the development and rollout of implementation and communication plans.  Review progress and evaluates results.  Act in a liaison capacity with other functions, landowners, contractors, government agencies and customers.  May coordinate the work of technicians and third-party contractors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•    Create, develop and enhance assigned organization-wide technical programs.  Manage a portfolio of pending programmatic changes and prioritize changes with leadership.
•    Craft proposals, implementations plans and communications plans for technical program changes.  Seek out approval from divisional and technical leadership.
•    Assist and advise operations personnel in identifying and implementing new methods to increase operating efficiencies of compression equipment.
•    Monitor oil consumption to ensure cost effective operations of compression assets.  This includes evaluating lube system design and determining over lube issues, correcting problems and testing components for proper oil film requirements.
•    Act as a subject matter expert in developing and writing operational procedures and/or equipment specifications/modification or changes.  (include coordination of vendors)
•    Provide detailed analysis and reports on equipment performance and condition.  Provide recommendations to management, field operations, engineers regarding required, advanced maintenance processes, overhauls or replacement of equipment.  Recommendations may result in equipment shut-down or redirect.
•    Provide recommendations to improve preventative and predictive maintenance plans for assigned assets.  Actively communicate and drive awareness of newly implemented or revised maintenance plans. Subject matter expert of Enable Gas Compression Inspecttion & Maintenance Manual.
•    Initiate, coordinate and lead special project work including the installation and commissioning of equipment, machine modifications and equipment improvements.  May coordinate the work of third-party contractors for special project work as assigned.  Conduct end of project evaluation and document potential opportunities for process improvement.
•    Ensure the effective and timely communication of equipment condition and status of special projects cost/schedule to supervisor, technicians, engineers and other related parties.
•    Review and analyze asset records required by company procedures, state, federal and local agencies as assigned.  Identify systematic or organization-wide issues and elevate for resolution.
•    Facilitate implementation and consistent application of new and/or existing program or process initiatives.  
•    Develop, lead and present training programs for area of specialization.  Identify gaps in target audience understanding and develop focused training to close the gap.

•    Lead pre-audit and technical support effort for internal/external audits.
•    Perform compression failure investigations and communicates findings to compressor operations personnel.
•    Monitor oil analysis in assigned compression asset area and provides corrective recommendations to compression operations.
•    Write and review technical documents.
•    Contribute to equipment failure investigations of limited scope and complexity.  Provide recommendations and assistance to engineers regarding potential root cause.
•    Train and mentor less experienced specialists.
•    Manage and evaluate equipment contracts for programs and processes in area of specialization.  Provide input on forecast and budget.
•    Develop and write Compression Technical Advisories and communicates technical information to compression operations.
•    Monitor oil analysis in assigned compression asset area and provides corrective recommendations to compression operations.

Minimum Education & Experience

•    Associates degree in mechanical, electrical, computer technology or other technical discipline.  Three (3) years directly related experience will be considered in lieu of an Associate’s degree.
•    Eight (8) years’ experience in the repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gas compressors and engines.

•    Advanced knowledge in base deflection and alignment of complex compression mounting systems.
•    Advanced knowledge of PLC and other electronic control systems, including ability to troubleshoot and correct problems.
•    Advanced knowledge of operational procedures including the ability to perform multiple complex tasks, including but not limited to task observations, startup/commissioning of a station or facility, or equipment calibrations.
•    Advanced knowledge of contract terms and development processes.

Physical Requirements

•    Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
•    Ability to bend, stoop, kneel crouch, balance, climb crawl, reach, stand, walk pull, lift, use fingers and grasp on a daily basis.
•    Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
•    Ability to sit for extended periods of time, view a computer terminal, demonstrate manual dexterity for operating a computer and other office equipment.
•    Ability to communicate clearly - in an oral or written manner.
•    Ability to work with high exposure to excessive noise, dust, dirt, grease, temperature extremes and safety hazards.
•    Ability to work in an office environment and/or field site environment
