Position Summary

Performs corrosion data analysis, integration and provides technical support for Pipeline Safety Direct Assessment – External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA), Dry Gas Internal Corrosion Direct Assessment (DG-ICDA), Stress Corrosion Cracking Direct Assessment (SCCDA), Cased Crossings External Corrosion Direct Assessment (CC-ECDA), and Close Interval Surveys (CIS). Performs integration of In-Line Inspection (ILI), hydrostatic tests and other pipeline information with corrosion survey data. Performs various evaluations, controls, and calculations to produce, support, and maintain data system integrity. Develops recommendations to improve corrosion control measures based on analysis.

 

This is an entry level position and requires an individual who is still learning to apply the theoretical professional concepts or techniques of the field. Contributes to the completion of projects and performs relatively standard processes and tasks. Develops solutions to routine problems with a finite scope. Limited use or application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Participates in more complex projects and tasks with guidance and direction from supervisor or more senior professionals.
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•    Prepare pipeline Integrity Pre-Assessment data elements to address, ECDA, DG-ICDA, SCCDA, CC-ECDA and CIS.
•    Assist in the preparation of formal written technical reports with direct guidance and review from more experienced analysts; utilize information from research and field survey/inspection/direct examination data to address the following:
o    Pre-Assessment – Data elements
o    Indirect Inspections – ECDA, DG-ICDA, SCCDA, and CC-ECDA
o    Direct Examinations – Field excavation inspection data
o    Post-Assessment – ECDA, DG-ICDA, SCCDA, and CC-ECDA
o    CIS reports
•    Perform data management and data interpretation to support Pipeline Safety corrosion and Direct Assessment projects.
•    Apply skills and concepts to ensure data integrity, data reliability and data accessibility throughout department.
•    Collect, organize and review operational data from diverse data sources. Take corrective action to resolve data discrepancies. Prepare reports and summaries.
•    Produce and maintain data specific to projects/program/process and or department.
•    Audit large data sets and maintain the synchronization of pipeline assets and facilities data.
•    Conduct compliance reviews of technical documents and processes with direct guidance and review from more experienced analysts.
 

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Associate's Degree in corrosion or related technology. Three (3) years' related experience may be considered in lieu of a technical degree.
  • One (1) year's directly related experience in corrosion technology.
  • NACE Cathodic Protection Tester (CP-1) or Corrosion Technician.
  • Completion of one (1) additional NACE corrosion course preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

•    Data management skills; ability to audit, format, model and analyze large data sets.
•    Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations (i.e. DOT, PHMSA, OSHA, EPA and FERC).
•    Knowledge of natural gas and liquid operations.
•    Knowledge of internal/external audits.
•    Ability to effectively handle pressures and demands of deadlines and competing priorities.
•    Ability to handle confidential information and material with the highest degree of professional responsibility.
•    Skills in computer applications, databases, and reporting software (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, PODS, Maximo MMS, corrosion survey analysis software/databases, shared server drives and SharePoint).
•    Ability to present and maintain a good driving record and operate Company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and Company policies.
 

Physical Requirements

•    Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
•    Ability to view computer screen, sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
•    Ability to operate a computer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
•    Ability to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted.
•    Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
 

Working Conditions

•    Ability to produce quality work in fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
•    Ability to work non-standard work hours as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
•    Ability to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
•    Subject to normal office noise levels.
•    Ability to travel to work or field locations, attend meetings and training and stay overnight as required.
