Position Summary:


The Staff Computing Support Administrator is responsible for assisting with the support of the Microsoft Office 365 environment (Exchange online, Skype for Business, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams applications). Performs operations maintenance, expansion and support of the Enable Desktop Engineering Systems, including the Microsoft Office 365 Suite, Azure, SCCM, Intune, Endpoint Privilege Management, Printing Services, and Unified Communications. Ensures installation, upgrade, change control, real-time monitoring, accuracy, coordination, troubleshooting, problem resolution, capacity planning, backup and recovery for supported IT systems. Provides tactical and strategic input into standards, roadmaps and technologies to enable a robust End User Services Environment. The key objectives for this role are enabling automation, end user self-service and cost effectiveness.


This position requires a seasoned and experienced individual with adequate understanding of the job area. Work is performed independently and under limited supervision. Determines approach to work and is supervised based on milestones and at key deliverable junctures. Work is reviewed for overall accuracy and soundness of judgement. Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Frequently applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Serve as a resource for implementation and support of Microsoft O365.
  • Maintain understanding of future direction of technologies and products for desktop engineering/printing/mobility, including contributing to enterprise roadmaps and architectural discussions.
  • Assess current processes and practices for application packaging, software deployment and develop tailored processes to ensure end user satisfaction and ease of use.
  • Provide support for multiple, complex and/or advanced application or IT systems with guidance from more experienced Administrators.
  • Serve as a resource for implementation and support of unified communications, application packaging, application deployment and printing services.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of project management processes and standard and incorporate principles of project management into assigned projects.
  • Provide input to planning groups on the impact of prospective upgrades and work effort required.
  • Perform impact analysis of new or expanding application or IT systems and coordinate with IT personnel to determine upgrades necessary to meet service level requirements.
  • Create backups of all essential configurations for tracking and disaster recovery.
  • Develop, test, implement and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  • Keep abreast of new technological advances in desktop engineering to further Enable’s investment.
  • Translate technical terms to simple format for end users.
  • Provide backup desktop support, queue manager role and adhere to all SLA’s for resolution and response.
  • Log all work in ticket system and document per policy.
  • Manage/back up all application packages.
  • Translate requirements into system design documents, operational procedures and user guides.
  • Resolve problems in break/fix situations, including dealing with software and hardware vendor technical support as needed.


Minimum Education & Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline. In lieu of a degree, six (6) years’ directly related experience will be considered.
  • Two (2) years’ directly related experience.
  • Experience administering Exchange Online.
  • Experience managing unified communications preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:


  • Knowledge of WMI, windows registry, SCCM report creation, PC hardware, printer management, mobility and AD Group Policy.
  • Knowledge of most aspects of operating system administration.
  • Knowledge of fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts.
  • Knowledge of peripheral systems and protocols, such as e-mail gateways, Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) and Azure Active Directory.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPO) including Windows Server Active Directory (GPO, Forest, Design, Scripting, ACL), Azure Active Directory Connect or MIM Sync Services.
  • Experience with e-mail archiving / e-discovery solutions, such as CommVault or Enterprise Vault.
  • Experience as an Exchange/O365 Engineer/Administrator in a corporate environment with emphasis on high-availability and uninterrupted 24/7 messaging services.
  • Experience developing Microsoft O365 roadmaps across the enterprise, providing input as well as planning for achieving roadmap objectives.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft O365 licensing plans and features.
  • Skills in PowerShell scripting for administration, automation of processes and issue resolution.
  • Experience with e-mail migrations.
  • Knowledge of how to setup SSO.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Records Management and document lifecycle.
  • Familiar with diagnosing issues related to networking components (e.g. firewalls, load balancers, web browsers, TCP/IP, SSL, HTTP, LDAP).
  • Analytical skills; ability to solve a range of straightforward problems, analyze possible solutions using standard procedures.
  • Data management skills; ability to audit, format, model and analyze large data sets.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of third-parties to ensure effective and timely solutions for integration projects and daily troubleshooting.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to distill data and analysis into high-level reports and summaries.
  • Ability to discern data inaccuracies through technical experience and knowledge.
  • Ability to develop system solutions for operational problems.
  • Ability to write technical instructions in the use of programs and/or program modifications.
  • Ability to plan, implement, test and troubleshoot system software.

  • Experience working in a ticketing system.

Physical Requirements:


  • Sedentary to light work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to view computer screen, sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate a computer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.


Working Conditions:


  • Ability to produce quality work in a fast-paced office environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work non-standard work hours as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to work or field locations, and/or to attend meetings or training, including overnight stays.
