Position Summary


This position is responsible assisting with the design, build, and implementation of automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) workflows, the design and administration of various physical and cloud-based infrastructure, support and management of multiple operating systems and associated server hardware platforms, as well as troubleshooting and support for storage/backup/recovery technology. This position ensures installation, upgrade, change control, real-time monitoring, accuracy, coordination, troubleshooting, problem resolution, capacity planning, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery planning for ET systems supported. 


This position requires a seasoned and experienced individual with adequate understanding of own job area.  Work is performed independently and under limited supervision.  Determines approach to work and is supervised based on milestones and at key deliverable junctures.  Work is reviewed for overall accuracy and soundness of judgement.  Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.  Frequently applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Analyze, administer, modify, configure and patch management for multiple, complex, and/or advanced operating systems.
  • Provide real time support and updates for servers and datacenters.
  • Plan all phases of assigned projects with limited supervision or support one or more components of moderately complex projects with direction from more experienced administrators.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of project management processes and standards and incorporate principles of project management into assigned projects.
  • Provide project cost estimates with assistance from more experienced analysts or engineers for consideration in functional budget.
  • Ensure a high degree of accuracy, coordination and administration of respective data centers, systems and applications.
  • Assist in coordination, and monitoring of systems, databases and system software for problems or needed modifications
  • Install and upgrade application & infrastructure systems (i.e. operating systems, storage systems, Data Center hardware, or databases) with guidance from more experienced administrators.
  • Maintain application or ET systems including installation of patches, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and tuning.
  • Perform testing or calibration procedure for application or data backup and recovery.


Minimum Education & Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, and/or related discipline.  In lieu of a degree six (6) years' directly related experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Server technologies 2012(R2)/ 2016, 2019 including installation, support and management.
  • Knowledge of Linux server environments and OS installation & management.
  • Knowledge of most aspects of IT design & administration.
  • Experience with the following toolsets and technologies:  Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Severs, Linux Servers, Azure DevOps, VMware (ESXi), HP Hardware, Pure SAN technologies, COMM vault, Nagios monitoring, Azure, AWS, other Cloud based computing.
  • Knowledge of Containers and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts.
  • Analytical skills; ability to solve a range of straightforward problems, analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.
  • Data management skills; ability to audit, format, model and analyze large data sets.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to distill data and analysis into high-level reports and summaries.
  • Ability to develop system solutions for operational problems.
  • Ability to write technical instructions in the use of programs and/or program modifications.
  • Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate technical guidance and instruction to users on the use of systems and/or applications.

Physical Requirements


  • Sedentary to light work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Ability to operate a personal computer
  • Ability to view computer screen, sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment
