Position Summary:

 

Drives continual improvement of process, technology, and people for midstream projects, primarily within the Engineering and Construction (E&C) group. Performs technical evaluations related to the project lifecycle and develops recommendations for actions based on advanced project management knowledge and experience. Maintains process documentation regarding project planning, execution, and closeout. Collaborates with various teams to monitor and improve performance, evaluate and mitigate risk, and ensure cost, schedule, and scope controls. Evaluates business needs, recommends, and helps implement business software. Leads process improvement initiatives and trains teams on new or changed processes. Contributes ideas to long term strategy of Project Controls & Project Execution Support team.

 

This position requires comprehensive knowledge within a functional area. Work is performed under general direction and is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives and to ensure compliance with processes, standards and policies of the organization. Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult and complex problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with the objective of the organization. May train and mentor less experienced professionals.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Owner and administrator of Project Execution Process (process documentation regarding project planning, execution, and closeout). Complete updates, publish, and provide training to assure system-wide compliance. Utilize project management and construction concepts to recommend improvements to the process.
  • Research, develop, and implement enhanced communication and utilization of Project Execution Process.
  • Leverage existing methods and provide recommendations to measure compliance to Project Execution Process.
  • Develop and analyze performance indicators and assure indicators are visible and well understood.
  • Utilize data analytic platforms for analytics, data visualization, and communication. Enhance data collection for efficient capture of key information. Develop plan for automated data analytics. Produce procedures to document data sources, analysis methods and protocols.
  • Perform benchmarking on project costs and schedules.
  • Serve as a source of expertise on reporting systems and data sources.
  • Continually evaluate estimating methods, project scheduling process, portfolio-level scheduling tools, project scope controls, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Perform analysis of cost reporting and forecasting systems, processes, and controls. Assist in recommendations to department management to enhance project efficiency, effectiveness and forecasting according to results of analysis. Track action plan progress with teams.
  • Identify and quantify risks at a department level and at project levels, develop and help implement plan to mitigate risks.
  • Support implementation of online collaborative platforms for project teams and portfolio management. Lead or provide input to system and/or process design and configuration.
  • Facilitate E&C process improvement initiatives. Partner with key business leaders/customers to identify and evaluate key drivers to accelerate organization performance with guidance.
  • Maintain Lessons Learned database, facilitate Lessons Learned sessions when needed, and ensure resolution to action items.
  • Maintain Project Change Tracking database and ensure resolution to action items.
  • Apply best practices and knowledge of internal/external businesses issues to improve processes or services.
  • Perform research on company’s products, competitors and industry.
  • Act as a change agent to instill a process/performance improvement culture.
  • Facilitate work sessions to identify business problems, develop root cause analyses and suggest areas of performance improvement. Create process and procedure documentation. Ensure ongoing sustainability of improvements. Evaluate and monitor results to make data-driven decisions and make recommendations to leadership.
  • Take action in a self-directed manner to identify issues and make recommendations to department leadership.
  • Act as a resource for team members with less experience.
  • Partner with internal network of contacts.
  • Collaborate with department management and recommend specific actions in response to analysis; follow-up on recommended action plans.
  • May perform other related duties.

 

Minimum Education & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or related discipline. In lieu of a degree, six (6) years' directly related experience supporting or leading projects will be considered.
  • Five (5) years' directly related experience supporting or leading construction-related projects.
  • Formal training or certifications related to project management, construction management, project controls, or process improvement preferred.
  • Experience supporting process improvement initiatives in the oil & gas or energy industry preferred.
  • Lean or similar process related certifications preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

 

  • Knowledge of the construction process including cost estimating, bidding, execution steps, and closeout.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems using project management experience.
  • Working knowledge of various resource scheduling methods.
  • Solid understanding of databases, reports and data analysis and system impact on communicating project information.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SAP PS, PM, MM and BPC.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Project and Project Server/Online or similar schedule software.
  • Intermediate knowledge of statistics for use in evaluating project execution data.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and expertise with analytical tools.
  • Ability to develop and apply various performance indicators to projects and portfolios.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Access.
  • Ability to distill complex data into concise and easily understood concepts and recommendations.
  • Strong data management skills; ability to audit, format, model and analyze large data sets.
  • Ability to discern data inaccuracies through technical experience and knowledge.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience; ability to recognize, analyze and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to utilize research and analysis to develop innovative insights and drive actionable business improvements.
  • Ability to translate broad concepts into specific tasks and action plans.
  • Strong organization, process improvement, and presentation skills.

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Sedentary to light work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to view computer screen, sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to operate a computer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel long distances.

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Ability to produce quality work in a fast-paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work non-standard work hours as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
  • Subject to normal office noise levels.
  • May need to travel to field office or field locations on occasion.
