Designs, installs, configures and maintains Enable Midstream’s network infrastructure.  Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.  Provides expertise in the selection and replacement of hardware that support system functioning.


This position requires comprehensive knowledge within a functional area.  Work is performed under general direction and is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives and to ensure compliance with processes, standards and policies of the organization.  Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult and complex problems.  Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with the objective of the organization.  May train and mentor less experienced professionals. 


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the design and operational support of the Enable Midstream Operations Technology (OT) network to insure the highest levels of reliability and performance.
  • Support Cisco Nexus, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Cisco ASA, VPN concentrators, F5 Load balancers, Sonicwall firewalls, serial terminal servers and other network devices.
  • Design and operational support of network circuits including DSL, Cable, MPLS, T1, PRI, DS3, GigE, fiber optic infrastructure, licensed / unlicensed RF systems and VSAT.
  • Establish networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating on network optimization.
  • Secure OT network system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access.
  • Develop and adhere to business continuity and disaster recovery plans and processes.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Report network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
  • May lead and direct work of others.
  • Coordinate activities related to common network segments and interfaces with corporate IT and OT infrastructure with the appropriate corporate IT, OT and telecommunications groups to insure minimal service interruptions, maximum data throughput, and minimum network security risk to the network.


Education & Experience:  


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Computer or other approved Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.  In lieu of a degree, six (6) years’ directly related experience will be considered.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the operation, management and design of network infrastructure, preferably in a SCADA, OT or critical infrastructure environment.


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Cisco Certifications: CCENT, CCNA, CCNP
  • Comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP and Serial communications protocols.
  • Thorough understanding of network routing protocols (RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP)
  • Possess strong working knowledge and experience in design, configuration and support of network concepts including ACL’s, QoS, VPC, MPLS, VRF, STP, IPSEC, GRE, DMVPN
  • Possess strong working knowledge and experience in design, installation and support of LAN (Ethernet, Gig-Ethernet), WAN (T-1, T3, VPN), wireless (802.11), and fiber optic infrastructure.
  • Basic understanding of licensed/unlicensed PTP and point-to-multipoint RF solutions, licensed microwave, GSM/CDMA/LTE cellular modems, land mobile radio systems and VSAT.
  • Provide design and operational support of the OT Network Security infrastructure utilizing stateful firewalls, IDS/IPS appliances, SIEM monitoring tools, and network taps.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer activities with peers or other support groups.
  • Network troubleshooting skills using network protocol analysis and monitoring tools such as: Sniffer Pro, Cisco Works, Wireshark, Net Flow, SolarWinds, Nagios, MRTG/PRTG, and Net Scout probes.
  • Network documentation skills (Visio).
  • Ability to develop concise and clear technical white papers.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience; ability to recognize, analyze and solve complex problems
  • Strong data management skills; ability to audit, format, model and analyze large data sets
  • Ability to distill data and analysis into high-level reports and summaries.
  • Ability to discern data inaccuracies through technical experience and knowledge.

  • Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system software.

Physical Requirements:


  • Able to see, sit, stand, walk and write for extended periods of time.
  • Able to communicate orally in a clear manner.
  • Able to view a personal computer monitor or laptop screen for extended periods of time.
  • Able to use up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally, to move, lift or push objects, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise.
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle and exit unassisted.
  • Able to travel long distances in a motor vehicle.


Working Conditions:


  • Able to work in hazardous environments including remote tower locations, well sites, compressor stations, processing plants and other related facilities which may require PPE including Fire Retardant Clothing, H2S monitors, Hearing Protection, Hard Hats, RF shielding, Steel Toe Shoes or other protective equipment.
  • Able to work in typical data center environments for prolonged periods of time which include moderate levels of continuous background noise and below normal room temperatures.
