Position Summary: 

 

Provides expertise and guidance for projects of varied size and complexity requiring project management discipline. Manages the discovery, planning and execution process of new or existing projects and programs. Plans, manages, schedules and monitors project timeline and associated resources. Identifies barriers and risks and makes adjustments to projects, with functional leadership support, to more effectively achieve desired business results. Supports the development of project management standards and toolkits for use by enterprise business functions (excludes Operations, Engineering or Construction projects for Enable Assets). Educates internal customers on the application of project management standards and ensures consistent practices are in use within and between functions. Provides guidance to contractors on company project management standards and practices. Partners with the Process Optimization Group to ensure consistent usage of lean process improvement methods and practices.

 

This position requires comprehensive knowledge within a functional area. Work is performed under general direction and is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives and to ensure compliance with processes, standards and policies of the organization. Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult and complex problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with the objective of the organization. May train and mentor less experienced professionals.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide expertise and guidance on strategic initiatives or function-level projects of varied complexity and impact; manage project deliveries from initiation through deployment and evaluation with minimal guidance from more experienced professionals or department leadership.
  • Act as change agent to improve overall processes and programs.
  • Provide guidance to project team throughout project lifecycle to meet applicable business requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of interconnections between business objectives and assigned projects and programs; identify opportunities for adjustments in projects and programs to more effectively achieve desired business results.
  • Deliver project results through leadership and influence rather than authority and control.
  • Deliver project communication on complex projects and issues in an easily understood manner.
  • Support the development and deployment of project management standards, guidelines and processes.
  • Prepare, consolidate and distribute project performance reports and metrics for functional leadership.
  • Maintain monthly project O&M and capital expenditure forecasts and assessment of portfolio execution risks.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop project and program resource strategies that minimize cost and ensure achievement of organization goals.
  • Identify dependencies within project portfolio and incorporate dependencies into project plans and budgets.
  • Maintain and advise on resource allocation throughout project lifecycle.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improving efficiency, effectiveness and capabilities of functional programs and processes.
  • Analyze data and create tools that can be used to make decisions that meet financial/corporate objectives.

 

Minimum Education & Experience: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Technology or Management Information Systems.
  • Five (5) years’ directly related experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Sedentary to light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to view computer screen, sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to operate a computer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.

 

Working Conditions: 

 

  • Ability to produce quality work in fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work non-standard work hours as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
  • Subject to normal office noise levels.
