Position Summary

Designs, installs, configures and maintains Enable Midstream’s network infrastructure.  Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.  Provides expertise in the selection and replacement of hardware that support system functions.


This position requires a seasoned and experienced individual with adequate understanding of the job area.  Work is performed independently and under limited supervision. Determines approach to work and is supervised based on milestones and at key deliverable junctures.  Work is reviewed for overall accuracy and soundness of judgement. Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.  Frequently applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•    Plan all phases of assigned projects with limited supervision or support relatively one or more components of moderately complex projects with direction from more experienced analysts.
•    Act as a technical resource for the operational support of the Enable Midstream Enterprise Technology (IT/OT) network.
•    Support Cisco Nexus, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Cisco ASA, VPN concentrators, F5 Load balancers, firewalls, serial terminal servers and other network devices.
•    Design and operational support of network circuits including DSL, Cable, MPLS, T1, PRI, DS3, GigE, fiber optic infrastructure, licensed / unlicensed RF systems and VSAT.
•    Establish networking environment by designing moderate system configurations; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
•    Maximize network performance by monitoring performance by troubleshooting moderate network problems and outages.
•    Secure ET network system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access.
•    Engage appropriate stakeholders to develop system requirements definitions.
•    Effectively communicates project plans to clients, team members and support groups.
•    Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with support groups.
•    Develop and adhere to business continuity and disaster recovery plans and processes.
•    Report network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
•    Work to expand job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Minimum Education & Experience

•    Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Computer or other approved Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.  In lieu of a degree, six (6) years’ directly related experience will be considered.
•    Minimum of two (2) years related experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

•    Understanding of TCP/IP and Serial communications protocols.
•    Understanding of network routing protocols (RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP) 
•    Basic network knowledge and experience in design, installation and support of LAN (Ethernet, Gig-Ethernet), WAN (T-1, T3, VPN), wireless (802.11), QOS, VoIP, Video and ISE.
•    Basic troubleshooting skills using network protocol analysis tools such as: Sniffer Pro, Cisco Works, Wireshark, Net Flow, Solar Winds and Net Scout probes.
•    Ability to produce basic technical white papers.
•    Network documentation skills (Visio)
•    Ability to provide design and operational support of the OT Network Security infrastructure utilizing stateful firewalls, IDS/IPS appliances, SIEM monitoring tools, and network taps.
•    Possesses analytical skills and experience; ability to recognize, analyze and solve complex problems
•    Data management skills; ability to audit, format, model and analyze large data sets
•    Ability to assist with distilling data and analysis into reports and summaries.
•    Ability to communicate technical guidance and instruction to users on the use of systems and/or applications.
•    Ability to effectively handle pressures and demands of deadlines and competing priorities.
•    Ability to handle confidential information and material with the highest degree of professional responsibility.
•    Able to identify creative and innovative solutions to resolve moderate problems and make sound decisions.
•    Able to demonstrate a proven record of competency and comprehension of leading industry practices regarding network and data security, design and implementation.
•    Able to demonstrate a proven record of competency in the deployment, diagnosis and configuration of Cisco hardware.
•    Able to demonstrate respect for all individuals, adhere to the Company’s values and business practices and do both consistently.
•    Ability to interact in a team environment.
•    Able to use personal computer software proficiently, including spreadsheets, database, word processing and presentation software.

Physical Requirements

•    Sedentary to light work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
•    Ability to operate a personal computer
•    Ability to view computer screen, sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
•    Ability to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment
•    Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. 

Working Conditions

•    Ability to produce quality work in fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines
•    Ability to work non-standard work hours as needed or required to meet established deadlines
•    Ability to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office
•    Subject to normal office noise levels
